The church hall meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 11:30am.

New Year Services

There will be a New Year’s Eve service at 6:30pm and a New Year’s Day service at 9:00am.

Christmas meal benefit this Sunday

Please come to the Christmas concert that benefits the Christmas day free meal.  The concert features Fioratura from Hartford, WI and is free.  A free will offering will be taken and all proceeds go to fund the Christmas dinner.  The concert is at Good Shepherd form 1pm to 3pm this Sunday Dec. 7th.  Please come and tell all your friends.

Advent is upon us

This Sunday is the 1st Sunday of Advent. 

 A time that the Church uses to call us into preparation for the coming of the King.  The next 3 Wednesdays we will have Soup and bread ready at 5:30pm to come and have a quick bowl of Soup, a slice of hearty bread and a thought for the Advent journey.  Then stay and celebrate 6:30 Eucharist with us or go onto your next event. 

We also invite you to pick up an advent wreath and a book of prayers for your homes or pick up some new candles for the wreath we gave out last year.  Have a blessed Advent and Don’t forget that Next Friday is the eve of St. Nick and Saturday is the Feast of St. Nick.  Have a blessed Advent.  God bless,  Fr.  Mike

Another Busy week and a new website

The week of Oct 12th is once again a very busy week for us.  We have a team meeting for the Teen safe Driver program on Tues night.  We have our healing liturgy and Eucharist on Wed.   Ladies night out is on Thurs Oct 16th at the Cannery Grill meeting at 6pm.  On Sunday our foundations class continues in the afternoon from 3pm to 5 pm the Topics for the next two weeks are Scripture and then Church History led by Fr. John Rasmus. 

On Monday Oct. 13th The Park Crawl presented $300 to the Sun Prairie VFW for the Veteran’s meme rial fund.  We also participated last weekend in the 161st Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee Convention. We sold baked goods for the youth and some money for youth events and sold dish clothes for the Altar guild fund raiser and T-shirts that we still have available.  They say Diocese of Milwaukee on the Front and It is Cool to be an Episcopalian on the back.  They are available at Good Shepherd for $11.  Have a great week.  Hope to see you soon.  God bless,  Fr. 9/11 service and Park Crawl coming up quick

It has been a while since I had an update on our Blog.  This Thurs. 9/11/08 at 6pm Sun Prairie is gathering for the 1st 9/11 service since 2002.  We will gather at the Veteran’s memorial in Sun Prairie on Walker Way.  We will honor those currently serving and those that have fallen in our Police,Fire,Ems, and Military.  Hope you can join us for this community service of remembrance

Sunday Sept.14th is the 1st annual Sun Prairie Park Crawl.  The activities start at 1 pm at Fireman’s Dream Park, Orphan Park, Stone Ridge estates Park and Carriage hill Estates Park.  The 4 Parks will all have community partner leading a lifestyle friendly event.  For every event you do you get a punch on your fit card.  The cost is $3 a person or $10 for a family payable at the Parks.  Kobussen bus is providing our transportation and you can ride the busfrom your park to the other 3 parks from 1 to 4pm.  At 3pm A community festival opens at Good Shepherd Episcopal church 3416 Swansee Ridge in Sun Prairie.  The community festival will include music from Bret and Frisk guitar and vocals.  At 5pm Tom Pease  will preform a family friendly concert with Culver’s Custard providing Custard for the Ice Cream social.  At Good shepherd there will be balloon art and face painting two bounce houses and community safety demonstrations from Sun Prairie police and Dane County Sheriff.  When you turn in your fit card you will recieve one raffle ticket for every punch you received at the parks.  The tickets can be used in the prize raffle which includes 4 nights at the Log Lodge in Wisconsin Dells and countless other prizes like gift cards at JC pennies and 1 years free milk from Organic valley.  There will also be brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, soda and chips for sale.  Please come no need to pre-register and enjoy this community day.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well Good Shepherd is a very busy place as we close our July and move toward August. A group of Good Shepherd folks took a trip to the Fireside for the production of “The Rock and the Rabbi”. We are having the Carpets at church cleaned this Tues. Extreme Home makeover is building a house in Richland cneter thanks to Veridan homes. Good shepherd has volenteers from our church family helping out.
We are starting to collect school supplies for our Families in need in our community. School supply lists are available at church or on the Sun prairie School district website.

August 3-9 Good Shepherd is sponsoring a wrestling clinic with the Sun priaire park and Rec. for 5year olds through 5th grade.

We are holding our 1st red Cross blood drive on Aug. 12th from 2pm to 6pm.

We will also be back at Corn-fest in Sun priaire seling Sweet bread called Curillos and Root Beer floats.

*This Sunday the out reach committee is meetig at 9:30 am between services. There is information in the Narthex for people interested in donating to the flood victims or bringing items to help Sun Prairie United Methodist church in asssembling Flood buckets of cleaning supplies. Purchased items off the list posted at church and on this website can be brought to church and we will deleiver the items to Sun Prairtie United Methodist church.

*Good Shepherd Mugs are now avaiable. Everyone can have one for church (We will be having a mug rack made and peoples names Glazed on the mugs)and a mug for home is available for $5.*

We are looking for volunteers to put stickers on plastic bags for corn fest and for people to hand out flyers at the Flags of freedom parade. If willing to help please see or call Fr. Mike @ (608) 354-2866

* There will be Liturgy on Fri. July 4th @ 10 am and Bible study with coffee and Red white and blue treats to follow.

Hey just a reminder of opportunites this week.  Monday – Bible study at 6:45pm @GS.  Wed. Regional Confirmation and Fr.  Mike’s Installation as Vicar @ 6:30pm.  Thurs.- Ladies night out at 6pm at the Cannery grill in Sun Prairie,  Saturday 9 am Shoe Shed Shoe sort day. Sunday 11am after service Christian Ed meeting.  12pm Daughters of the King Info meeting.  Have a great week!!!

Good Shepherd’s going to the MALLARDS Game

July 16th the Madison Mallards play Alexandria @ 7:05.  Anyone who is interested in going to the game after 6:30pm liturgy see Fr.  Mike we will get group tickets.
