The next youth event will be held today at Ultrazone Laser Tag. We will meet at Ultrazone at 2pm and be finished by 3:30pm.  Signup and directions are on the table in the narthex.

 Men’s breakfast is next Saturday, November 21^st at 7:30am, location: Gus’s Diner.

 Sunday, November 22^nd is ministry training for all ministries.  Times and signup  are in the narthex.

 The Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, November 24^th located at Sun Prairie United Methodist church.  There will not be a 6:30pm liturgy that day at Good Shepherd.  There will be a Thanksgiving Day Service here at 9am.

 There will not be a Friday liturgy or bible study on November 27^th.

 The next Christmas meal meeting will be on Tuesday, December 1st at 8:15am located at the Colonial Club.

 Scrip is growing every week; please remember Scrip for your holiday gift giving.

 We are collecting newborn diapers and shampoo for the Community Help Organization for the Christmas holiday.  The ornaments that suggest what gifts to buy for Community Help Organization will be here soon.

Sunday, November 1st Announcements

Sunday, November 1^st @ 5 pm on All Saints Day there will be a Choral Evensong at St. Andrew’s in Madison that all the Madison churches are presenting.  Bishop Miller will be presiding and all the Madison pastors will be vested and sitting together.

 Our fall fundraiser is a wine and cheese tasting along with an art show and sale November 7^th from 7 to 9pm. Tickets are available from Jackie Datka.

 The Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 8th @ 11:15am. Child care will be available.

 Foundation class is going to meet next Sunday, November 8^th; the topic will be Church Music.

 The next youth event will be laser tag on November 15^th.  Please sign up in the narthex.

 November dates for parish visits are available.

  Good Shepherd Church will be collecting shoeboxes filled with Christmas presents to be delivered to needy children throughout the world. A shoe box filled with gifts such as toys, school supplies, hygiene items, hard candy and gum is much appreciated. We will need to have the shoe boxes in the church by November 7th, specifying if the contents are for a boy or girl and the age category (2-4, 5-9 or 10-14). 

A “Turkey” donation basket will be located in the Narthex. We would like to collect all contributions as soon as possible so that we can provide the funds in a timely manner to the Food Pantry

Sunday, September 6 Announcements

The Church hall meeting is next Sunday, September 13 at 11:15am with lunch provided. Please try to attend this very important meeting.

 We need to finalize our Church Development team by this Monday.  Please talk to Fr.  Mike if you are interested.

 Sunday school starts next week on September 13^th.

 Signup sheet in the narthex for Mentors and students of the mentor program.

 Sept 11^th there will be a community service at the vet’s memorial at 6pm.  Please see Fr. Mike if you would like to help.

 Please plan on attending the Park Crawl on Sunday September 20^th. All activities begin at 1:00pm. We need volunteers to help with the Park Crawl and a signup sheet is available on the table in the narthex.

 The Altar flowers were donated by Marge Wentworth in memory of her husband, Bill, and son-in-law, Curt’s birthdays.

New Year Services

There will be a New Year’s Eve service at 6:30pm and a New Year’s Day service at 9:00am.

Christmas meal benefit this Sunday

Please come to the Christmas concert that benefits the Christmas day free meal.  The concert features Fioratura from Hartford, WI and is free.  A free will offering will be taken and all proceeds go to fund the Christmas dinner.  The concert is at Good Shepherd form 1pm to 3pm this Sunday Dec. 7th.  Please come and tell all your friends.

Advent is upon us

This Sunday is the 1st Sunday of Advent. 

 A time that the Church uses to call us into preparation for the coming of the King.  The next 3 Wednesdays we will have Soup and bread ready at 5:30pm to come and have a quick bowl of Soup, a slice of hearty bread and a thought for the Advent journey.  Then stay and celebrate 6:30 Eucharist with us or go onto your next event. 

We also invite you to pick up an advent wreath and a book of prayers for your homes or pick up some new candles for the wreath we gave out last year.  Have a blessed Advent and Don’t forget that Next Friday is the eve of St. Nick and Saturday is the Feast of St. Nick.  Have a blessed Advent.  God bless,  Fr.  Mike

Sunday, Nov. 23 – Feast of Christ the King

Feast of Christ the King

      Thanks to all who helped with Bob Devenish’s funeral.

 

We will be participating this year in an ecumenical thanksgiving eve service at Our Savior’s Lutheran.  I will be preaching.  There will be no service here at 6:30pm on the 26^th.  There will be a service on Thanksgiving Day at 9am.

 

There will be worship service at 10am and Bible Study at 11am next Friday, November 28, 2008.

 

Men’s breakfast is next Saturday, November 29th at 7:30am at Pancake Café.

 

December 5^th is the ecumenical concert at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church to benefit the food pantry at 7 pm and December 7^th is our benefit concert to raise funds for the Christmas dinner at 1pm.

 

If you didn’t bring your estimate of giving cards or time and talent forms back please do so next week. 

 

Please remember that we are collecting new born diapers, soap and shampoo.

 

This weekend is the last week to order church logo shirts and sweats, we are also adding a long sleeve knit shirt.  The prices are on the sign up sheet.

 

I have two people willing to straighten the church on Friday and am looking for two more.

 

On December 3^rd, 10^th and 17^th  we will have soup and bread on the Wednesdays in Advent before Mass at 6:30pm. There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex to bring soup or bread.

 

We are looking for a group to help work with the greening of the Church on Sunday, December 21^st.

 

I am looking for adults to help with the children’s pageant on Sunday, December 21 at the 10 am service.  The practice will be after 10 am service on Sunday, December 14^th for children of all ages.

 

 There will be a New Year’s Eve mass at 6:30pm if interested.

 

 We need 3 additional fire extinguishers @ $50 each – need $150.00 to complete project.
