Faster Pastor Wrap up

The rain held off and we did complete the fastor pastor which turned out to be a beatiful clear night.  I ended up 3rd.  I felt pretty good about the finish all in all.  Our race didn’t start until 11pm so I have a very tired family today.  Thanks for all the support.

Good Shepherd racing t-shirts are available at church and we are taking orders for the next two Sundays.  The cost is$10 a shirt.  The faster pastor challenge has raised $480 so far, thanks for all who have supported the challenge and all who prayed for a safe race and good weather.  I definitely want to try again next year.

Thanks to life 102.5 and Madison international Speedway for sponsoring the event and to Finishline Custom Construction and Scott Nelson for sponsoring the T-shirts and the Whippfurth family for introducing me to the world of stock car racing.  Finally thanks to my Wife Heidi and the kids for making signs and cheering so loud.  I learned a ton about racing and had a blast doing it.  Stay tuned for Good Shepherd night at Sugar River Go-Kart track later this summer.   God bless and thanks again for all the support.  Fr. Mike  (FM)

Blood Drive Aug 12th

Good Shepherd is having their 1st ever American Red Cross Blood Drive on Aug 12th from 2 to 6pm. If you give blood and want to help us meet our goal of 30 pints please give no later than June 17th so you are eligible on Aug 12th.

Sign up for our blood drive at the American Red Cross website. You can find our drive under sponsor code 3888 or by entering our zip code 53590.

If you are giving blood and would like to be part of our One a week club, when you give at a blood center or blood drive in the Madison area sign in for Good Shepherd Episcopal #185. We currently have 9 pints toward our goal of 52 pints of blood for the year. See you on Aug. 12th!

Congratulations

Wesley Davison is graduating from Sun Prairie High on Friday the 13th. Wesley is also part of the Jazz Band that recently took 3rd in the Essential Ellington competition in New York City. Congratulations Wesley.

Faster Pastor Update

I want to keep you up to date on the fater Pastor race.
I talked to the people at the radio station. I had the 2nd highest number of votes with over 80. Thanks to all who helped get me a spot in the race.
I had my 1st racing lesson at Sugar river go kart track. The go Karts go over 50 mph. Not exactly the kind I raced at Great America. I went with three people who all race. I learned a ton. This week Thurs we have a practise on the track at Madison international Speedway from 12 to 4. We get to practise with some of the actual cars we will be driving. The Faster Pastor Challenge theomoter at Good Shepherd reads $250 dollars in my plight to raise $2000 for the priest professional and discretionary funds. Thanks to all who have helped. These funds allow me to help others in our community on your behalf. Checks can be made out to Good Shepherd with fastor pastor in the memo. Just one example of what that money goes for. We helped a lady get her 4 kids into an apartment and out of living in her car. We brought some gas and food for her and worked with the community organizations while she worked as much as 80 hours in a week to try and get back on her feet.
The races start at 6 pm but the faster Pastor is closer to 9pm. There are $2 off coupons at Good Shepherd or on life 102.5’s website. See you Friday and remember to wear Red or Good Shepherd logo stuff. God bless, FM
